From Paris, by A6 motorway or the train, "Lyon Station" (45 min of way). A regular service of bus serves the castle from the station of Fontainebleau - Avon (15 min of way). A fixed price train / bus / castle is sold by the SNCF.
Opened everyday, except on Tuesdays, January 1st, May 1st and on December 25th. From October to May from 9. 30 a.m. to 5 p.m.. From
June 1st to September 30th from 9. 30 a.m. to 6 p.m..
Last admission: 45 min before closing but it is highly advised to envisage more than one hour for the only visit of the Large apartments.
The circuit of the Large apartments includes the Renaissance rooms, the Large apartments of the sovereigns and the interior Apartment of the Emperor. It is permanently open and corresponds to the general ticket (full fare: 6.5 Euro, reduced tariff: 4.5 Euro, exemption from payment for less than 18 years). A booklet-play is offered to the children accompanied by their parents.
This ticket also gives access to rooms opened intermittently, namely the Living rooms and the Chinese Museum of the Eugenie empress. To get information the morning even by calling the museum.
The circuit of the Small apartments, the Museum Napoleon 1st "and a circuit on the topic "Fontainebleau under the Second Empire" are open in guided tour for the individual visitors under the control of an agent of monitoring and correspond each one to a particular ticket (full fare: 3 Euro, reduced tariff: 2.3 Euro, exemption from payment for less than 18 years). Taking into account the alternation of the openings, it is preferable to telephone the morning to even have confirmation of the access and the schedules of these three additional circuits.
The reservation is free and obligatory. On date, it is possible to organize visits with a lecturer of the national Museums, for thirty people maximum by conference, in French, English, Italian. More than twelve topics are proposed, from the Rennaissance to the Second Empire. Duration 1. 30, full fare: 123 Euro, reduced tariff: 91 Euros, school tariff: 53 Euros (in addition of the bill of entry for the adults).
Many formulas are proposed in addition: visit-workshops for the school ones (duration 2 H, tariff 66 Euros), two cycles of visits deepened on subscription devoted to the history of the castle or the history of Art, visits conferences for the individual ones... The museum is accessible to handicapped (circuit from the Large apartments) and of the specialized visits are possible for blind-people.
